BUDDY'S BLOG
 |
Buddy, formerly known as Braden, is one lucky dog!! Buddy spent the first 5 years of his life in the deplorable conditions of a puppy mill breeder. His luck changed when he was released to Furry Kids' Refuge and later adopted by a wonderful family.
Buddy's forever Mom is a talented artist who has decided to combine her art blog with a blog about the new member of her family. Check out Buddy's adventures as he learns how to become a "normal" happy dog!

This month's "special" pets are Tina & Dina! Both of these sweet dogs are pure bred Jack Russell Terriers who were released to Furry Kids' Refuge from a breeder. When we took them to our Vet, they were diagnosed with heart murmurs, which requires a daily (inexpensive) medication called Enapiral. This medication will help them live a much better and longer life!
Tina is a female, 8 years young, who has the rough (wiry) coat of fur. This sweet baby is just a lovebug. Tina likes other dogs and enjoys the company of people.
Dina is a female who is 4 years young. She does very well with other dogs and really loves being around people. She will be shy at first meeting but is a complete sweetheart with a kind word and touch.
Both Tina and Dina have been working on their leash training and housebreaking but will need more time/patience/love in mastering both. They are both very smart furry kids so it shouldn't take much effort at all!
If you think one (or both?) of these great dogs would be a good fit for your family, please read more about them on Petfinder. |

Featured Dog - BARNEY
 |
My name is Barney and I am AWESOME!!! I'm a medium size furry kid with a scruffy face and body. I love other furry kids including cats!! I am very active, energetic and playful so I would do best with a family that has a fenced yard. That way I can run and play which helps me wear off some of my energy.
I pull a little on my leash so I need a little help with that but other than that, I'm pretty cool!! I am crate/kennel trained and HOUSEBROKEN! I really love people and would do great with most any family.
Read more about Barney on his Petfinder page!

Featured Cat - BABYFACE & BUGS
 |
Baby Face and Bugs were found in the wood pile of a kind lady who is now fostering these adorable kittens. They are both males and are about 6 weeks old. They are eating can food along with crunchy Science diet. These little guys are very sweet and of course, very playful!
If you'd like to give one of these adorable kittens a home, please check out their Petfinder pages!

What if Furry Kids earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Well, now we can! GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its' users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results. Just go to goodsearch.com and be sure to enter Furry Kids Refuge as the charity you want to support. Thanks! |

IT'S STILL GETS HOT!!! |
Summer is winding down but it still not safe to leave animals in a car unattended. Print off some "Don't Leave Me in Here, It's Hot!" flyers from mydogsiscool.com to have on hand. If you spot a dog in a parked car, you can place one on the windshield to help get the message across!

FURRY KID "HAPPY TAIL" |
| Little Mona Lisa was found running lose in a not so great area with lots of traffic! She was lucky enough to be rescued by one of Furry Kids' dedicated volunteers AND lucky enough to be adopted by a wonderful family. Here's a picture of her on adoption day... |
|
| A note from her forever family.. "Mona Lisa is doing well! She is a little handful sometimes, but we are getting used to her and vice versa. I got her to slow down long enough to get this picture... |
|
Even our vet said she is a little hugger and lover and that we got a good puppy (which you and I knew all along.) Thanks again for all your work and all you do."
Please visit our website for more of these heartwarming stories. If you have adopted one of our Furry Kids, please send us your story and pictures. We would love to post them on our Happy Furry Kids Page! |
