Celebrate Your Pets! |
|
May is National Pet Month... a time to celebrate the benefits of pet ownership and all that it brings to our lives. Pets give us so much....joy, laughter, wet kisses (:-)), and most importantly, their unconditional love! In addition, research has shown that living with pets provides certain health benefits such as lower blood pressure and less anxiety. So, not only is it pleasurable to own pets, it's good for us, too! WIN WIN!! |
All of us at Furry Kids' Refuge wish that you continue to enjoy and enrich the relationship you share with your furry companions. Commit to helping your pets live happy, satisfied lives. Show them your love and support all year long! Check out these fun ideas:
National Pet Month is also a good time to support pet adoption. If you don't currently have a pet or you're thinking of adding another pet, please consider welcoming a Furry Kid as a loving new member of your family. You can view all of our Furry Kids on Petfinder or Facebook. |

Just letting you know that Bernie is doing great and helping his two way older brothers keep young! We adopted Bernie in November, 2009 at the PetCo in Lee's Summit and he is a riot! He is so sweet natured and nosey. He loves to go to the park and have cuddle time in the recliner or on the bed at night.
Thanks for letting us adopt Bernie.
He is a sweetheart!

She is double the size...Francis' new name is Koda. Took her in to the vet last week for her shots, bought her the food they sell (she loves it) and she is one happy, clumsy puppy!! We absolutely LOVE her. She is the perfect fit. She is now the same size as our Lhasa Apso so they are on equal wrestling terms...for maybe another week :-) Ha ha!! She has found her voice, and its very high-pitched....she eats rawhides like no tomorrow. Her legs are so long, she sits her bottom on one stair and her legs reach the one below....at least one girl in the family will have long legs!! Thanks for checking on her. She is a blessing....
Mindy

"Austin's" name has been changed to "MURPHY". He is the loviest little snuggler. He is getting along very well!!! My vet said he is in great shape. Murphy is getting along really well with my maltese "Desi". Last evening I had some people over for supper (5 people and 4 dogs). Everything was great...and we even had to go to the basement for a tornado warning during this little party. Murphy was the favorite dog for everyone to hold and massage! Even with the chaos of the extra people and dogs in the house he was his usual happy little self. I am very happy with my new adoptee.
Thank you so much. Keep up the good work!

Jace was turned over to a small town shelter when his owner was deployed overseas. There wasn't much interest in another black dog, especially one that had health issues! Having no other options, the shelter scheduled Jace for euthanasia. Furry Kids stepped in and rescued Jace from death row but now he needs surgery to help him live a full life!
Please read Jace's story...
...maybe you can you help him? |
Gracie has beautiful tortoiseshell coloring and is just as sweet as can be! Gracie gets along with dogs, is litter boxed trained and rides great in the car to go to the vet. She did not even need to be held when being shaved to treat an old wound! Gracie has a very soft meow...her favorite places to be starched is under chin, ears, belly and back. She is super friendly and loves attention, The vet said you couldn’t ask for a better temperament!
Read more about Gracie on her Petfinder page. |

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours,
faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it
to him to be worthy of such devotion.
