2nd Annual Fall Rummage Sale

October 4,5, 2008 at the Lee's Summit VFW Hall was a great success raising $3300. The hall was filled to the brim and we were kept busy with so many customers! HUGE THANKS goes out to all our donors and supports for donating such great stuff for us to sell!

Draws 4 Paws - Saving Lives, One Beer at a Time!

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Furry Kids was invited to be a part of this event by The Kansas City Dog Advocates at Jerry's Bait Shop in downtown Lee's Summit. It was so much fun and we were honored to be a part of this event.

2nd Annual Spring Rummage Sale - Smashing Success!

April 4,5,6, 2008: We had so much great stuff donated - thank you to all our loyal contributors for helping to make this such a great success. We always have so much fun with our Rummage Sales. We had a new location, the VFW Hall in Lee's Summit which proved to be a fantastic location! We were able to raise $2100 which all goes to the animals' veterinary care. Pictures from the event coming soon!

What a successful event we had the morning of March 8, 2008. It was the most successful Applebee's Fundraiser to date and at several points we had no open tables in the whole restaurant! We had a lot of fun - the kids seemed to really like grabbing an egg from the tub for a prize and we had GREAT raffles! We also had great baked goods like homemade breads, cookies and doggie treats.

We were able to raise $1600 which all goes towards our veterinary expenses. Thank you to the following companies for helping to make this such a great event!

  • Fido's and Felines
  • Lakewood Animal Health Center
  • Curves
  • Zen Zone Yoga
  • HyVee
  • Beauty Brands
  • Lowe's
  • Green Beauty Salon and Day Spa
  • Jazzercise Fitness Center
  • Pete and Mac's
  • Total Body & More

December 15, 2007 at the Applebee's in Lee's Summit. What a great event! The weather outside was frightful, pretty much a blizzard, but the pancakes, music, fun and Boomer inside was delightful! Many supporters braved the weather and joined us for a great breakfast fundraiser. We raised $1100 that will be used in our general veterinary fund to help us get through the winter months when adoptions are slower. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this possible and many thanks to those who joined us! Keep an eye out for our next Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser - how about an Easter Egg Hunt??? :)

2007 Dogtoberfest

What a fun day! So many volunteers were on site to help with the "Bobbin for Hot Dogs", our fishin' for a prize dog house, raffles, yummy treats for humans and dogs alike! We had many visitors to our booth and won 3rd place in the Booth Decoration Contest! Megan and Otis won 2nd place in the Look Alike competition when she put a Furry Kids sweatshirt on this gorgeous golden boy! And, Chester won 4th place in the Dock Divin' competition! It was his first time jumping off a dock, what a great job he did.

It was super windy, several tents were lost but the temperature was great and we had so much fun.

2007 Midwest KidsFest

Though this wasn't a "Pet Event", we thought it would be a great idea for Furry Kids to have a booth at an event in a family oriented environment. Our goals were to gain exposure for Furry Kids in a family oriented environemnt, help raise awareness of the need to help homeless animals, meet potential adopters and of course, to just have fun! We accomplished all of those goals and more. Heddie Leger, member of Mo/Kan Pet Partners Therapy Team, Dog Scouts of America volunteer and Furry Kids volunteer, brought her Certified Therapy Dogs to meet the public and help educate people about breeds and dog safety. Hero and Halo were a huge hit! These two wonderful dogs met people of all ages from infants to adults, shook hands and gave kisses. We enjoyed the whole weekend, were able to raise about $300 in donations and we'll look forward to next year's Midwest KidsFest!

LOW COST VACCINATION AND MICROCHIP CLINIC

Sunday, July 15, 2007

We had a great turnout, offering vaccinations and microchips to around 50 dogs and cats. These clinics help people who are not able to afford to vaccinate and/or microchip otherwise and fell in line with new licensing laws established in Raytown, MO. Proceeds benefited both Furry Kids and Rissa's Haven, a local pit bull rescue we work closely with. The event was so successful we'd like to make it an annual event!

It was cold, We were wet, but the 2nd Annual Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser was still a success

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

In just 2 hours - miserable rainy hours! - we were able to raise right at $1000.00. Thank you to everyone who helped out and who attended for breakfast! Our first customers of the day were Tom and Betty Conant who adopted Bubbles from us earlier this year. Bubbles is a Lhasa saved from a life of breeding. Many adopters visited and one wonderful gentleman who adopted Adam, a lab mix puppy(now a whopping 75 pounds!) born on Easter of 2006 and now named Snoopy, donated $100 and another super nice couple had breakfast and then decided they needed to help Boomer by contributing $100 to his fund! Thank you to everyone who donated extra to help make this event a success!

A huge thanks is in order to the staff at Applebee's in Lee's Summit for allowing us to have this event at their location - they were wonderful - getting up early just to come out and cook pancakes, eggs and sausage for all who attended - and an extra plate of sausages for Boomer!

1st Annual Rummage Sale

April 21st, 2007 at the Furry Friends Hangout in Blue Springs, MO.

So many people donated great stuff for us to sell at the Rummage Sale. We worked a long night Friday to sort and price all the items and had a great turnout all weekend! We were able to raise about $1400.00 to use towards purchasing supplies like dog houses, crates, and other items needed for the animals. We also did quite a few adoptions that day! We will do this event again in the fall so keep an eye out for details!

1st Annual Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser

August 5, 2006 at the Applebee's in Overland Park, 103rd and Metcalf.

It was a beautiful morning and all the volunteers turned out to help serve pancakes to all our customers! Volunteers even stood out by the intersection to wave people in! We were able to raise $1200.00 to help pay for veterinary expenses on many sick cats we saved from the Independence Shelter.
